Toy Value Checker: LEGO Sets, Hot Wheels, Funko Pop & Vintage

Sealed retired sets are the only LEGO that behaves like an investment. A sealed UCS or Modular that left retail two or more years ago often sits 20-80% above last retail, depending on the set. A sealed current-production set is usually at or under retail because Target still has it. Check whether the set is still on LEGO.com before you price a "rare sealed" claim.

Opened and complete with box and instructions is the middle band. You will often land at 40-70% of the sealed solds for that same set number. Missing minifigs or a bag of random bricks is a bulk lot, not a set. Photograph the box number, the instruction book, and a tray of the unique pieces or figs.

Loose bricks sell by the pound at $5-12/lb unless you have a known rare fig (original Chrome Trooper, Sand Blue Maersk, etc.). Do not spend an hour sorting 2x4s for a $9 listing.

A square-corner common in the box is $8-15. Chase, flocked, and convention stickers are $18-120 depending on the number. Out-of-box commons are $4-8. Soft windows and crushed corners drop exclusives into the common band.

Title the Funko number and the sticker type. "Batman Pop" collides with 40 other SKUs. "Pop 144 Batman metallic SDCC" is a search.

A current mainline loose is $1-3. Carded current mainlines are $3-6. Treasure Hunts (green flame logo) carded often sit $8-20. Super Treasure Hunts (gold flame, Real Riders, Spectraflame-style paint) carded are $25-80, more for a hyped casting.

Redline-era (1968-1977) is the vintage market. A clean loose Redline with intact paint can be $20-150 depending on the casting and color. A blistered Redline with a strong card is a different number. Do not call a 1990s collector-number car a Redline.

Photograph the base (casting name and year), the card back if present, and the wheels. STH vs TH is a wheel-and-paint check, not a logo you can fake in the title.

A loose Kenner Star Wars figure with no accessories is often $15-40. The same figure carded on an original 12-back or 21-back is hundreds to thousands depending on the character and card grade. Do not use a carded sold to price a loose figure.

Transformers G1 with a complete weapon tree and no broken tabs is the listable condition. A yellowed, cracked, incomplete G1 is a $20-50 parts figure even if the character is Optimus. Photograph the weapons next to a ruler and the rubsign if it is present.

AFA grading makes sense when the carded solds for that exact figure already clear a few hundred dollars and your card looks sharp. A $35 loose figure does not need a $75 slab.

Repro weapons and recarded figures are common. If the blister glue looks new and the card is too clean for a 1978 toy, say "appears recarded" or do not list it as original carded.
